Did you know that when you get married and change your last name that you need to file with the social security office to change it with the IRS as well? Well, I didn't think about it at all, until I tried to catch up with the 21st century and file our taxes electonically and it got rejected.
That will teach me to try to use technology for anything actually useful.
So that means that I needed to take a day off from work since the stupid government offices seem to only be open 9-4 Monday through Friday. Which is really annoying to have to waste a perfectly good vacation day to go wait in line.
Incidentally things worked out quite well. Tiffin came with me since he had the morning off, and sure half the people there had brought all 6 six kids that that had (the guy in the corner with the gun seemed to keep them quiet though), baby's were crying but not the ear-peircing scream that kids love to do in crowded palaces, and we got to watch stupid people not pay attention to the large arrows pointing them to where they need to be to get a number from a very large option board and then stand there looking at the guard with the gun for a while until they got up the verve to ask him where to go and he sighs and points to the very obvious sign that they missed telling them what to do. The sign even had buttons to help them with verbal instructions since reading is too much above them.
We only waited about 20 min. until they called my number for my specific need and this really cool guy with snazzy suspenders help us quite competently. But now I am going to need to keep talking Tiffin out of buying suspenders for a while until he forgets about them. He thinks they are so cool.
